Design

The Tab 4 10 Plus highlights style convenience. Its plastic gray, soft-touch makes it simple to grasp the chassis. However, the situation is a lot of a dust magnet because of the fabric. Unlike earlier phones from Lenovo, this one does not include a kickstand. This would have been useful, as many users would have preferred to watch on.

The elegant, gray-silver curves are simply beautiful. The bezels are a decent size, allowing the fingerprint reader at the bottom and the front camera at the top to have enough space while not being very distracting. There are two neatly dotted panels for the speakers on opposing ends above the webcam, on the tablet curves.

The Tab 4 10 Plus is relatively easy to carry with 1.09 pounds and 9.7 x 6.8x 0.28 inches. The Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017) is a bit thicker at 1.1 pounds and 0.4 inches, while the Apple iPad at 1.03 pounds and 0.29 inches is 9.7-inch (2018) lighter and slightly thinner than the Lenovo. A volume rocker and a steel-dotted power button are on the left side of the Tab 4 10 Plus, which looks cool and satisfies touch. A headphone jack, a USB Type-C port for power, a microphone and a SIM Card / microSD combo slot are housed on the right.

Display and Audio

The Lenovo Tab 4 Plus 10.1-inch FHD 1920x 1200 IPS display is bright and colorful, but you might notice some glare while watching movies with high contrast on this display. The Tab 4 10 Plus reproduces 109% of the sRGB color range, beating the tablet average (94%) and the Fire HD 10 (104%). The iPad is 119 percent of the bunch’s most colorful. The screen of the Tab 4 10 Plus at 400 nits is a little brighter than the average category. At 405 nits, the Fire HD 10 seems better, and the iPad gets the cap at 489 nits.

The Tab 4 10 Plus’ speakers are pretty solid. Soft acoustics and vocals are extremely pleasant to listen to on this device. The intensity of the sound can be felt easily, especially when listening to music from high-quality sources. Dolby’s audio enhancements allow the treble and bass to balance very well. However, the speakers aren’t as loud as hoped, as the sound barely filled a small office.

Performance and battery life

A 2.0-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8953 processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB eMMC storage and a 506 Qualcomm Adreno graphics card are located inside that sleek body. Those specs unhindered pushed the Tab 4 10 Plus through PUBG, but when you have several tabs open in a browser, you might notice a few seconds lag. Without a problem, you will be able to watch 1080p YouTube videos.

While the Plus is intended to be a Tab 4 10 upgrade, it still goes the same. As for the software, this tablet runs the Android 7.1 Nougat operating system, and not the recent 8.1 Oreo OS, as expected.
All in the OS is what you would expect from any Android-running phone, but Lenovo has some of its own apps in it. Dolby Atmos is a particular highlight, especially as it is incorporated into the control center. With this, you can choose sound settings for yourself in the equalizer for movies, music, gaming, voice or even customize a mode. Other applications include the Lenovo Weather App, which also doubles as an alarm / stopwatch, and the Interface Switch, which allows you to create a separate child account.

The Tab 4 10 Plus absolutely kills any battery test. Surfing the web over Wi-Fi with 150 nits of screen brightness, the battery survives for an impressive 13 hours and 6 minutes. It will probably last a lot longer when using it lightly.

Should you buy the Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus?

With its bright 1920x 1200 display and Dolby Atmos speakers, Lenovo’s Tab 4 10 Plus offers a great multimedia experience. The lengthy and convenient battery life and layout are quite enjoyable, too. The performance might be a bit better, though, and at this stage of the game the Android Nougat isn’t the best software that Lenovo could have integrated into its Plus tablet.

If you wat more speed and a wider range of top-notch applications, you can go for one of Apple’s tablets, but for a higher price. If you’re prepared to invest some additional money, the Apple Pencil will prove to be a lot more efficient, too. But this only depends on your desires and requirements. What you will not have with any Apple tab is the insane battery life of the Tab 4 10 Plus.

Overall, the Tab 4 10 Plus is marvelous considering what you get for the price. If the Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus were slightly cheaper, it’d be easy to recommend. Thanks to competition from the new iPad and the lower-cost Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017), it’s in a tricky spot.
