Tablets out of the Middle Kingdom have been improving in leaps and bounds – but which is right for you?
Chinese tablets have become incredibly popular over the last couple of years. They have always been much cheaper than their Western counterparts, but the low price of these devices isn’t the only thing that the Chinese now have to offer.
On the contrary, Chinese tablets are becoming better and better each year, performance and design-wise, while maintaining their competitive price.
Chinese designers and manufacturers have been flooding the Western market with their affordable and well-performing devices and they have certainly managed to gain market share in the process.
What follows is our list of the top Chinese tablets.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4

Xiaomi is also involved in creating phones under its Mi Pad brand, a common name in the smartphone globe, and the Mi Pad 4 Plus is their latest. It demonstrated to be an amazing actor in our device evaluation while at the same time providing some degree of brand value.
The tablet could deliver adequate output using a Snapdragon 660 processor and its battery left us impressed with an exceptional 17-hour rating.
This Plus model comes with built-in support for 4 G LTE and is not an optional function. Keep in mind, however, that there is no band 20 assistance needed in certain European economies. Being a for-China tablet, there will be no pre-installed Play Store, although this scenario involves several workarounds. A good 10-inch FHD display, a fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C and a spacious 4 GB RAM are available for a small cost. Xiaomi products are renowned for their strong results.
The tablet Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is an Apple IPad version. It is a sophisticated variant of MI Pad 3 that the Chinese firm had earlier introduced. It has a straightforward, sleek structure. It has a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage room Hexa Core 2.1GHz processor. It has an 8.0-inch display with a display size of 1200x 1920 colors. It’s running on Android 8.1. It has a back camera of 13MP.
Chuwi Hi9 Air
A 10.1 in 2 K screen, a deca-core processor, dual-SIM and microSD support all sounds incredible for an Android tablet that can be bought at such a low price. There is definitely plenty to give at this cost for the Chuwi Hi9 Air-but it’s not all simple sailing. Inside the Hi9 Air is a Helio X20 deca-core processor with built-in 780MHz ARM Mali-T880 graphics, coupled with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. That looks more amazing than it is, but for most customers it will be okay for most functions, and even some casual gaming.
All these components assisted in all technical tests and helped raise the ratings a lot. However, this doesn’t change the fact that it is a low-cost tablet that has its limitations. The Chuwi recorded 23fps in the least intensive component in gaming tests using GFXBench, T-Rex, which can be played but you wouldn’t want to press it much easier. It’s going to be fine for casual games and watching movies. We are happy to discover that Chuwi has placed the dual amplifiers at the bottom end where they are not going to shoot sound into your palms or the table.
There’s also a 3.5 mm headphone jack along this top edge, so if you’re unhappy with their performance you can circumvent them all together. We discovered them too smooth and missing in bass, but much better for pop music with less noticeable distortion.
Chuwi SurBook Mini
SurBook Mini isn’t the best2-in-1 Windows tablet that the market has to offer. In reality, it is simply a 2-in-1 if you’re willing to pay for the keyboard. But it’s a nicely designed and usable Windows tablet for the small amount of money you’re paying, provided you don’t attempt to toss too much at it at once and maintain a PD charger handy. The SurBook Mini, a lower variant of the Chuwi SurBook, has a narrower, lower-resolution display but is similar to its larger sibling.
You get what you’re paying for, of course, and that’s not Surface Pro. But it will fulfil their fundamental requirements for many customers who do not seek supreme output. If the SurBook Mini looks familiar, it’s because it is. As seen on Microsoft Surface systems, it emerges with a metal kickstand that flips back up to 125 degrees. If you plan to use it with a keyboard (sold separately at £ 36.03/$50.09), or if you want to view a movie without needing to keep up the phone, it is extremely helpful to support the laptop. It’s not even much smaller than the SurBook 12.3 in, with a 10.8 in display that can be used in abundance. This is smaller in 1920×1280 pixel full-HD display, maintaining the same aspect ratio of 3:2.
Chuwi Hi13 Review
The Chuwi Hi13 looks like a huge deal for a low price. This is the impression that most consumers have after a first glance. It is a high-resolution 13.5 in Windows 10 tablet with some useful connections and ports, including the ability to attach a magnetically docking keyboard and pair it with an active stylus. It’s too good to be true, though? The Hi13 is mostly nicely designed for such a low-cost device. It has a metal chassis and an excellent IPS screen with a usable 13.5 in diameter, high-resolution. This is a 3:2 display with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels ensuring that all is crystal clear. The 10-point touch panel works well and is responsive.
At 480 nits, it is light, producing good colors. Viewing angles are also good, although when viewed from the side, there is a small gap between the display and the glass, and there is no protection for Gorilla Glass. The bezels are also pretty chunky, meaning the tablet is closer to a 15 in laptop than a 13 in model when combined with the keyboard. It also feels as portable as a 15 in laptop, weighing on its own and 2 kg with the keyboard in a monstrous 1.1 kg. We can’t even blame this heaviness on a huge-capacity battery because there’s only a 5000mAh cell inside.
A stylus, the HiPen H3, is another accessory that you can buy for a low price and that might prove to be helpful. Powered by a single 10-month AAAA battery, this active 2 mm tip stylus promotes 1024 stress sensitivity concentrations. If you’re going to use the tablet without a keyboard, it may be handy, especially if you’re sick of wiping away fingerprints (they’re a problem with the Hi13), but don’t pretend it’s a kind of graphics device.
It just doesn’t have the oomph. The reality that there is nowhere to store it when not in use is our only true gripe with the stylus.
Teclast T20

The Teclast T20 is a fresh Chinese Android tablet that provides a number of exciting characteristics beginning at a very low price, compared to other tablets produced by major companies. We actually get a full metal body, a 10.1-inch high-resolution display, built-in 4 G, and a fingerprint scanner. The tablet also features a deca-core processor for Helio X27, 4 GB of RAM, and an internal storage of 64 GB. But how good in real life can it be?
The Teclast T20’s design and construction performance is amazingly high-end. It actually features a complete body of metal and is well constructed. It’s just 7.5 mm thin at the same time, but weighs 550 g which is a little bit much. The Teclast T20’s main highlight is its 10.1-inch screen.
A MediaTek MT6797 T Helio X27 SoC is located inside the Teclast T20, which is a deca-core module with a total of ten components. Two of them are up to 2.6GHz clocked. We also get 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64 GB. This chipset has proven high performance and endurance during tests and sows that it can be used for multiple tasks at once.
More than that, it is important to mention that it is quicker than most Android devices. We are not talking about Samsung top-notch tablets, but tablets in the same category. While that’s awesome, the performance in real life isn’t as great as a normal middle-class tablet and more similar.

Worth Checking Out
Teclast Tbook 11 2-in-1
No products found.
No products found.
Dual boot tablets have become pretty popular lately and the Chinese have produced their own fair share of these devices. Teclast Tbook 11 is one of the best Chinese dual boot tablets that has just about everything a casual user could ask for and a little more.
Both operating systems run perfectly fine on this compact, well-built device. A large number of ports, decent battery life and the light, removable keyboard make this tablet one of the best devices within the price range.
Low quality cameras are something we’re used to with Chinese tablets and Teclast Tbook 11 doesn’t deliver in this department either. This could maybe be a turn off for some users, but not a lot of us use tablets for photography anyway.
Chuwi Hi12
No products found.
No products found.
Visually stunning, mostly thanks to the large, vivid screen, Chuwi’s Hi12 is another dual boot Surface clone that offers more than decent performance.
The wonderfully colourful display and the highly responsive touchscreen (which, by the way, is as good as Microsoft Surface’s and iPad Pro’s touchscreen, if not better) guarantee a thrilling user experience.
What might hurt the overall user experience, however, is the lack of keyboard kickstand, which can sometimes make typing on the removable keyboard fairly uncomfortable. Great battery life, a large number of ports and the traditionally low price are, along with the display and touchscreen, the biggest pros of this model.
Vido W10 Elite
Vido W10 Elite is the perfect example of how and why Chinese tablets have been, slowly but surely, penetrating the Western market. The W10 Elite is China’s best effort to break onto the Windows tablet market so far.
Simple, yet robust design, a large number of ports, a great display, combined with good performance and decent battery life are the biggest pros of this model. On the other hand, the low quality speakers and bad cameras are the biggest cons of this device.
Although a tad bit more expensive than other Chinese tablets, the W10 Elite is, overall, a good Windows tablet that performs very well despite its flaws.
