Design

As with all computers designed for business purposes, HP has tested this device in different ways, so that it can prove its reliability. The Elite X2 has been subjected to a wide range of tests to allow it to stand up to a rigorous set of challenges; Therefore, we now know that the stand may be opened and shut ten thousand times; the keyboard has been calibrated for 10 million keystrokes and the machine has been tested on cement from over half a meter high.

It’s a little bigger than the most recent Surface Pro, with 820 g heavy without the keyboard. It’s still far from unmanageable, though, and it’s just no hassle to bring over a working day. Interestingly, at 8.2 mm, it’s even a little thinner.

The key esthetic distinction between the Elite X2 and the Surface Pro is that it uses a trimmed-out frame for its stand rather than Microsoft’s full plate version. This may be slightly more versatile than the Surface Pro, but we would be worried that the version of the full plate does not offer the same stability and structural integrity, and would break more easily.

Display

Nevertheless, HP does have an ace up its sleeve, which is app update. Take out a few bolts and you can access your internal hardware, which allows you to swap RAM, memory and display components. No surprise, the 12.3-in screen of elite X2 is another high point. HP has a good reputation for its display technology in general and its reputation has been upheld here. The color accuracy was indeed very great, covering a considerable 91.5 percent of the sRGB spectrum, and the total lightness is similarly difficult to fail with a display resolution of 388cd / m2 and 2736x 1824. It’s also made of Gorilla Glass 4, so that you can be sure it won’t shake easily. If there is a flaw with the camera, there is no glossy anti-illumination coating on it. This function is now present on more and more laptops and makes it much more manageable to function under challenging lighting conditions. Since we do not yet see an anti-light coating in combination with Corning’s excellent Gorilla Glass, we are glad to have a slight compromise on comfort for strength and stability.

The X2 also supports HP’s Active Pen in addition to the usual input methods. It’s not as well crafted as competitor pen like the Surface Pen of Microsoft or the Apple Pencil, but it feels smooth and natural enough to manage basic drawing and note-taking, if not comprehensive, creative activities.

Performance and battery life

The days when a hybrid system meant that performance are long gone. The Elite X2, which holds an Intel Core i7-7600U and knows how to use it, should prove this. Although it lags behind Surface Pro a bit, it is more than able to stay with most of the other 2-in-1s and even some ultrabooks, and will gladly handle intense workloads and multitasking without any complaint.

Unfortunately, battery life is a less inspiring tale. In our trials, it was only 6 hours 32 minutes, not as long as we would like. Yes, it will certainly not see you through a full day of work unless you are wise to reduce your electricity consumption. This is a pity because it restricts the flexibility of an outstanding hybrid. There is a deep-sensing camera supporting Windows Hello biometric authentication, and the X2 also comes with standard Windows 10 Pro that provides a number of business management functions. HP also has several of its own business management software, including the Sure Start BIOS Security 3rd generation and the HP management ability integration package.

The HP Elite X2 1012 is a prime example of a hybrid organization right. Microsoft’s Surface Pro range can take considerable inspiration, but HP has not gotten into the pitfall of many producers just by lending the layout and ignoring the excellent performance that makes the Pro line so cherished. Moreover, the company has introduced many business-friendly features like a variety of management solutions and the option to update components, which will make IT administrators very happy.

Certainly, X2 is significantly behind Surface Pro in terms of technological performance, but we are inclined to ignore that because X2 is a lot more accessible than Microsoft’s device. Overall, the HP Elite X2 1012 is a brilliant hybrid product and is a wonderful addition to any set of business equipment.

Should you buy the HP Elite X2 1012 G2?

The Elite x2 does indeed have a major benefit over the Surface Pro 4: the Elite x2 can potentially be opened for reparations and part addition, so you will be able to customize it as desired whenever needed. To be honest, it takes time and money just make a tablet workable and the Elite x2 isn’t affordable. But you do not have to be an expert to understand the benefits of being able to open the rear of the panel and replace the battery, and sometimes even the SSD and wireless Internet card etc.

HP’s launched Elite x2 with many characteristics that we’d like Surface Pro 4 to have. While we will not know whether the Elite x2 actually competes with the Surface Pro until we can try it out, it definitely has a good head start due to its up-to-date hardware.
