Every week, the onslaught of Chinese tablets from upstart electronics makers with impressive value propositions continues unabated. The latest hot trend is the rise of true 2-in-1 tablets featuring multiple operating systems. The new Tbook 11 from Teclast is one such ultrabook tablet that aims to deliver superior performance to consumers at a price that'll jive with any budget.

Layout and Aesthetics

Constructed from a lightweight alloy, the Teclast Tbook 11's chassis provides ample protection from the elements. As far as design is concerned, this tablet opts for the understated minimalist look. Just 8.4mm thick and weighing in at 710 grams, the Tbook 11 is a light customer considering how sturdy it happens to be. In the ports department, there's a TF card slot, Micro USB and Micro HDMI. Front and rear 2.0 MP cameras round out the exterior.

Horsepower, Storage & Display

Under the hood, the Tbook 11 packs a powerful quad-core Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 clocked at 1.44GHz. That fine CPU is backed up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board eMMC storage. The gorgeous 10.6-inch IPS display by Samsung features 1920x1080 resolution. Thanks to its integrated Intel HD Graphic Gen8 GPU, the Tbook 11 never struggles to crank out topnotch high-definition media.

OS, UI, and Unique Software

Easily one of the top selling points of the Tbook 11 is its dual-OS setup. On startup, Tbook 11 users can choose between Windows 10 and Android 5.1 Lollipop. For the most part, Windows 10 is fairly stock and features popular apps like Windows Hello, the Edge browser and Cortana. Likewise, Android 5.1 is a vanilla version without any noticeable custom bloatware.

Networking and Peripherals

As you'd expect, this particular Teclast tablet is equipped with 802.11 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity. If you purchase the optional keyboard, you'll get another full-sized USB port to play with. At just under $30, Teclast's PU leather keyboard case is a steal. Thanks to its support for 4K video, the Tbook 11 is the perfect machine for streaming media to larger displays.

Performance in the Field

Thanks to its Intel Cherry Trail CPU, the Tbook 11 is generally quite fast under most conditions. It manages scores of at least 700 and 2,000 in the single and multi-core versions of Geekbench 3. The same benchmark test run in Android produces similar results. The 7,500mAh battery is good for 5 solid hours of web browsing and light office work that's not graphically demanding.

Teclast Tbook 11 Pros & Cons

Ultimately, the Tbook 11 is an inexpensive tablet with respectable build quality and a solid display. The internal hardware is equally impressive and delivers great performance. The fact that it comes with both Windows and Android is an added bonus that should bring quite a few consumers into the Teclast fold. Besides the lousy cameras, the Tbook 11 is a winner.

The Ideal Teclast Tbook 11 Buyer

If you prefer Android as an operating system but need Windows for some tasks, the Teclast Tbook 11 is a good bet. Anyone that doesn't spend their entire workday at a desk will appreciate the Tbook 11's versatility in a variety of scenarios. Long story short, there aren't many tablet and PC users that wouldn't benefit from the Tbook 11.
