Dell Tablets Compared

Dell has gained a reputation in recent years for producing simple, effective devices that favor utility and productivity over flashiness. That’s been borne out in the heavily business-oriented tablet line that the manufacturer has produced, and in most cases the results have been successful.

The Latitude 12 from Dell’s 5000 series holds a discreet appearance and checks a lot of requirements that a business user would have. It features a Smart Card reader, fingerprint reader, it is FIPS TPM approved, optional encrypted drives (OPAL or FIPS), crypto-accelerator, Intel V-Pro, and a high performance. Include a docking port and 1 Gbps Ethernet port and this will be a good office laptop.

On the go, the Latitude E5250e’s excellent keyboard makes it very comfortable to use, and it is also a highlight of the trackpad. The battery life of the new Broadwell-based versions is at the forefront of our charts and should only improve with the decreased audio DSP and SoC efficiency of Gen8 graphics. The screen is a decent compromise, as far as at least pixel density is concerned. The ultra-high DPI of something like Yoga 3 Pro does not exist, but the resolution 1920×1080 makes it 100% scaleable. Although many product applications have now been adapted to high DPI displays, you can bet that many business applications are not going to be so lucky. I therefore believe it is important that the resolution is not too intense. The 176 PPI offers a good balance with great viewing and contrast to the IPS display. Precision needs some work and if the screen could at least cover the sRGB gamut, it would be good even if not used by the photography professionals.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series is a beautifully designed ultra-book, which is bound to be compared to the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro because its screen can also be turned to the back of the chassis and can work in tablet mode. However, the Inspiron 13 7000 series costs much less than the Yoga 3 Pro, and can therefore be a budget for buyers.

This is definitely an elegant notebook with a silver-looking, plastic-made cover. The smooth, slick finish passes inside the foundation. It is quite solid, even if there is a little flex in the lid portion. Sorry, when we used our regular’ bend check’ on the cover, the screen began to pop out of its surroundings. We did not do any harm, but this raises questions concerning the long-term sustainability of this development element.

Giving its 1.7 kg weight, the Inspiron 13 7000 series is almost small enough to bring most people regularly into consideration. It’s very thin, at only 19.4 mm, in this respect. But, as expected, it’s heavy and bulky for use in tablet mode with this kind of notebook. The Yoga 3 Pro alluded to above is thinner and lighter, but must also compromise connectors.

The Inspiron 13 50002-in-1 series laptops are available in three different flavors. This device gives you a 4 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive Intel Core i3-6100U processor. A slightly better 2.8 GHz i5-6200U Intel-Core processor with an 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD is available to boot faster. There is also a more expensive version.

We tested the state-of – the-art version with a 3.1 GHz i7-6500U processor, 16 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD. It’s basically the same configuration that the top Inspiron 15 5668, so with the Inspiron 13 5368, you actually get less laptop for your cash. Nonetheless, we prefer the smaller shape factor and it is nice to see that Dell did not interfere with a less powerful set of requirements. The Core i7 model hit a bit when I was subject to our challenging 4 K multimedia benchmarks, but without a lot of problem it managed most high-performance tasks.  If you want to start playing games on it, you have to fiddle with its graphics settings without a specific graphics chip. Nevertheless, its built-in Intel HD 520 Graphics Chip has managed a good 37.5-speed Dirt Showdown of 1 920×1 080 for low graphics, so that you can still play older games at a reasonable speed if you meet your expectations.

A 360 ° touchscreen can make a good marketing or perhaps a good impression at first contact, but a distinctly average device does not  improve.much The display is as lazy on a tablet as it is on a laptop, and neither mode can mask the fragile construction.

If Dell Inspiron 11 3000 was only a laptop and cheaper, we would overlook such inconvenience. We would also be breaking away from USB Type-C and ac/5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. However, it has a lot of qualities, as well, it is capable of doing good work and comfortable to type on. It’s also acceptable, and 4 GB RAM gives us confidence that it will work in the next few decades.

It’s not just a computer, though. This is a laptop and an awkward tablet with an exaggerated price. There are better options if you want Windows 10 2-in-1, as well. If the cost does not represent a problem for you, this device can be a nice equipment to have. This model is not meant to compete with faster products like Dell’s own XPS 12 convertible, but is a low cost option for those of you who want a simple 2-for-1 device. It’s good as a laptop if you’re going to have some writing done or simply browse the web, and it can be helpful as a tablet if you want to tap or read images. You can also stand it in tent mode (or with the keyboard behind it) if you want to watch a film on your desk or in bed.

Dell Inspiron Chromebook 2-in-1 Laptop/Tablet

Dell’s Chromebook Inspiron 142-in-1 is a pretty awesome machine. It is a detachable laptop that supports the Android app, and has an integrated pen. In addition, it has very powerful Chromebook samples, with a 14-inch 1080p screen, a Core i3 cpu, a 4 GB RAM and a 128 GB onboard memory.

Many people love Chromebooks, but not everyone got to use one that is really high-quality and can do the job it was created for. This is one of the best examples of a product that is highly efficient and practical. We review loads of Windows 10 devices, and this is not the first time when we come to the same conclusion: the Windows 10 tablet experience is awful, but the convertible design compensates for the lack of perfect features. Chrome OS has Android application support though, which means that what we always wanted to try is a Chrome OS convertible-not a tablet with an attachable keyboard-with better specifications, a high-resolution screen and a wide enough monitor to be used as a full laptop.

Such products are not frequently encountered on the Chromebook market. Google nearly made one, but the 12.3-inch PixelBook screen is too small for most users. A 14-inch Chrome OS and Android hybrid is exactly what you are looking for.

Dell Venue 7

The Venue 7, like its larger sibling, is built with cost-effectiveness in mind. The design is quite simple, though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The 1,280-by-800 pixel display is on par with the Venue 8’s panel, but the hardware lags behind.

The Venue 7 features a 1.6-gigahertz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor, which is a bit outdated compared to tablets in its class. The Venue 7 does about what you’d expect at the price point, but it’s far from the best option available.

Dell Venue 8

As the name suggests, the Dell Venue 8 is the larger of Dell’s two budget-friendly Android tablets. Dell has left the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean experience largely untouched, which makes it appealing compared to tablets with heavily reskinned or otherwise restricted operating systems.

The 1280-by-800 display is no match for the full high-definition panels on the market, but it more than holds its own for the price. Similarly, the 2.0-gigahertz Intel Atom Z2580 processor delivers good-not-great performance. It offers solid battery life that even manages to exceed that of the smaller Venue 7 in a tablet comparison.

Dell Venue 8 Pro

No products found.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro, like the Venue 11, is a full-featured Windows 8.1 device. The Venue 8 Pro straddles the line between the high-end Venue 11 Pro and the budget-friendly Venue 7 and 8 tablets, and thanks to the Intel Bay Trail Atom Z3740D chip, it successfully blends the best of both worlds.

The performance is smooth without drawing too much power, and most applications run well on the mini-sized tablet. The display only produces a 1280-by-800 pixel resolution, but the panel is sharp and bright.

Dell Venue 11 Pro

The Venue brand originated with a failed attempt at breaking into the smartphone category. Over a year later, Dell revived the Venue in the form of a line of tablets. The Venue 11 Pro, the largest in the Venue family, sells itself on its versatility.

The Windows 8.1 device can function as a tablet, connect remotely to a television or monitor, or connect to an optional keyboard dock to function as a true laptop. There are several hardware options, ranging from a quad-core Bay Trail Atom processor or a beefy 1.6-gigahertz Core i5 chip with eight gigabytes of RAM.

The high-end hardware can easily replicate laptop performance, and the 10.8-inch, 1920-by-1080 pixel display is crystal clear.

Dell XPS 10

The only current Dell tablet to include Microsoft Windows RT, the XPS 10 is unremarkable and inoffensive in design, but it’s tailor-made for business users. The XPS 10 is in line with most other RT-based tablets, featuring a 1,366-by-768 pixel display and 1.5-gigahertz Snapdragon S4 processor.

Where it stands out in comparison to tablets meant for casual users is with the inclusion of an excellent suite of productivity and security tools, which makes it a popular pick in the corporate world.

Dell Latitude 10

The Latitude 10 marks one of Dell’s most concerted efforts to woo the corporate world to its tablet line. Being a business-oriented device, the Windows 8 tablet is powered by a basic 1.8-gigahertz Atom Z2760 processor.

As with other Atom tablets, the display is a 10.1-inch, 1,366-by-768 pixel panel. The specifications are far from impressive, but they’re more than adequate for business use. What is impressive, however, is the excellent battery life.

Dell XPS 12

The Dell XPS 12 is probably most notable for its innovative swiveling design. The 12.5-inch, 1,920-by-1,080 pixel display easily swivels around a sturdy outer frame, transforming from an ultrabook to a de facto tablet.

Its large size means it isn’t especially portable or suitable for one-handed use, but the design produces great versatility nonetheless. The 1.6-gigahertz Intel Core i5-4200U processor delivers a very solid Windows 8 experience.

Dell Streak 7

No products found.

After the bizarre design of the original five-inch Streak, Dell went back to the drawing board to produce a genuine tablet. The result, the Android 2.2-based Dell Streak 7, is something of a mixed bag. The 800-by-480 pixel display was outdated even at initial release, and the battery life is among the poorest of any tablet on the market.

The 1.0-gigahertz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 processor is snappy, however, and it handles basic tasks with ease.
